Matchup to Watch
Greg Monroe vs. Bismack Biyombo: Monroe is a 20-10 guy on a regular basis, a great young big man in the Eastern Conference. He averaged 19.8 points and 12.3 rebounds in the Pistons 4-0 sweep of the Bobcats last season.
Observations
• The Pistons have been on an uptick of late with a five-wins-in-six games run that included a home victory over the defending champion Miami Heat.
• Detroits bench is among the best in the league. The 85 points Pistons reserves scored against the Atlanta Hawks Dec. 26 were the most by an NBA bench since 1999.
• The Bobcats have gotten the better of the Corey Maggette-Ben Gordon trade, as veteran forward Maggette seldom plays for the Pistons. The Bobcats owe Gordon an extra season of salary in the swap, but will eventually get a first-round pick from Detroit.
Tap-ins
• Former Duke star Kyle Singler, a Pistons second-round pick two years ago, has been starting and playing roughly 30 minutes a night of late.
• Turnovers have been a problem of late for the Bobcats, but the Pistons average the second-fewest steals in the NBA at six per game.

Detroits Jonas Jerebko and Charlotte rookie Jeff Taylor are the only two active Swedes playing in the NBA.
