Anthonio "Tony" Farrar, 20, surrendered at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office early Sunday, police said.

The second suspect in Charlotte's first homicide of 2013 has surrendered to authorities.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say 20-year-old Anthonio "Tony" Farrar turned himself in at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office early Sunday.

Farrar is the second suspect in the slaying of 19-year-old Benjamin Sky McDaniel. Farrar is charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy.

McDaniel was shot to death Tuesday night in the 8400 block of Goldsfield Drive during what police are calling an apparent drug deal. Jerik Simmons, 21, was also shot but survived his injuries.

Police arrested the first suspect, 19-year-old Dontae Leverne Torrance, Wednesday on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy and obtaining property by false pretenses.

Torrance, McDaniel and Simmons all attended Independence High School, their Facebook pages show. McDaniel and Simmons were best friends who spent much of their free time together, according to other friends of McDaniel.
