Butler High

Spring musical: The Performing Arts Department will perform the musical “Hairspray” from Feb. 21-24.

Myers Park

Open houses: The school will hold tours for prospective families 4-5 p.m. Feb.7 and March 7.

KinderMourn: Almost $5,000 was raised for KinderMourn at the 5K recently held at Myers Park. KinderMourn is a Charlotte-based organization which helps parents deal with the loss of a child and children with the loss of a parent.

Charlotte Christian, Greenway Park Elementary

School collaboration: Charlotte Christian and Greenway Park began a partnership last fall to enhance their community relationships. Students pay reciprocal visits to the schools and attend classes together.

South Meck

Humane Society: The first Santa Paws gift drive in December collected a bin of toys for animals at the shelter. The South Meck High School Humane Society was formed in October and has 15 charter members.

Spanish immersion: South Meck Spanish immersion ninth-graders recently performed plays at Collinswood, a Spanish immersion magnet school. The plays used puppets to deliver messages of the dangers of drugs, of not trusting strangers and of perseverance in life challenges.

Providence High

Fundraising results: The PHS Band’s 2012 fruit and pecan sale netted more than $10,000. Several hundred students and parent volunteers unloaded, counted and sorted fruit and helped with order distribution. The band delivered more than 900 pounds of fruit donated by purchasers to Loaves and Fishes.

South Charlotte Middle

Angel Tree: The school raised $9,300 in a one-week fundraiser for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. The program helps families in need during the holiday season. South Charlotte students purchased clothes, bicycles and toys for their “angels” after the fundraiser.

Anami Montessori School

Open house: The school will host an open house at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 15. Parents can view classes in session.

Charlotte Prep
