Monday morning traffic update

Southbound Interstate 77 in south Charlotte has been a trouble spot this morning, with two collisions reported between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.

The most recent wreck is between Remount and Clanton roads, a short distance north of an earlier five-vehicle collision. Traffic has been snarled all morning on southbound I-77 in the area.

Here is the 7:30 a.m. summary:

-- I-77 southbound, south Charlotte ... Collision reported about 7:15 a.m., blocking the left lane between Remount and Clanton roads. An earlier five-vehicle collision has been cleared, but congestion remains. Traffic moving 20-30 mph for about 2 miles north of the scene.

-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

-- Eastway Drive at Central Avenue ... Disabled vehicle; minor delays.

-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Remount Road.

-- I-77 southbound, lake area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Mooresville down to I-485.
