No injuries in Monroe store robbery

Police say nobody was injured in an armed robbery Sunday night at a convenience store in Monroe.

According to police, a clerk at the Kangaroo Express in the 3500 block of Weddington Road told officers that a man entered the store about 11:15 p.m. and demanded money. The man, who was wearing a mask and had socks on his hands, was wielding a kitchen knife, the clerk said.

The man took money from the store and ran, police say. Monroe police called in their K-9 dog search unit but were unable to find the man. Police did not get a good description of the suspect.
