Two men were shot and killed Monday night in what Wadesboro police say was gang violence.
Police identified the victims Tuesday as Jerry Thomas Rorie, 25, and Marcus Antonio Allen, 24.
Officers were called about 6 p.m. to a convenience store on U.S. 74, where a gunshot victim had collapsed. Investigators say the shooting occurred a few minutes earlier.
Police say members of two gangs had a confrontation at a house on Salisbury Street (U.S. 52) near U.S. 74, a short distance west of Wadesboros downtown district. That confrontation turned into gunfire.
WCNC-TV, the Observers news partner, reported that police said the gangs were the Bloods and the Crips.
One victim died near the driveway of the house. Another man ran about 200 yards to a convenience store, where he collapsed. He was taken to a Wadesboro hospital but died of his wounds.
Investigators spent more than 12 hours at the scene. By daybreak Tuesday, they continued to search the house and property. Blood and clothing could be seen in the driveway, and police had set up a number of evidence markers.
Police said later Tuesday that no arrests had been made, and they were continuing the investigation. Observer photographer Davie Hinshaw and WCNC-TV contributed.
