ROCK HILL A Rock Hill woman was charged with assault Monday after police say she hit a store clerk in the face with a debit card reader and then apologized.

Police were called to the Valero gas station at 329 Willowbrook Ave., where they met with a 31-year-old store clerk. He told them that a customer, Andria Myers, began arguing with him before he asked her to leave, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

The clerk said the argument escalated and Myers, 36, threw the debit card reader at his face, hitting him in the nose, the report states. Officers watched in-store surveillance video that confirmed his allegations.

Myers returned to the store and tried to apologize for her actions, the report states. The clerk said he still wanted to press charges.

Myers was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and battery. She was released from jail Tuesday on a $800 bond.
