Alexander teen hurt in hunting accident

TAYLORSVILLE -- A 14-year-old boy was injured Thursday afternoon in an apparent hunting accident in Alexander County, the sheriff’s office says.

The teen was hurt shortly before 5 p.m. when he and a friend were dove hunting on Daniels Lumber Road, in the northern part of the county. Authorities say the victim apparently walked into the aim of his friend and was struck by birdshot from a shotgun.

The teen suffered abdominal wounds and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.
