Matchup to Watch

Rajon Rondo vs. Kemba Walker: Rondo’s ability to make spectacular passes both in transition and in the half court are a big challenge to Walker defensively. Well as he anticipates in the passing lanes, he lacks the length to cut off Rondo’s looks.

Observations.

Boston’s Big Three is down to the Big Two, with Ray Allen in Miami, and hypothetically could be the Big One at the trade deadline, because Paul Pierce still has a lot of value on the open market.

Coach Mike Dunlap moved Bobcats captain Gerald Henderson back into the starting lineup vs. Indiana. They lost to the Pacers, but the Bobcats didn’t have that bad start Saturday that typically has plagued them of late.

• It’s not Dunlap’s problem to manage the Bobcats’ payroll, but it’s interesting that power forward Tyrus Thomas – owed about $18 million over the next two seasons, didn’t get off the bench Saturday night.

Tap-ins

• The Celtics swept the series with the Bobcats last season, 3-0.

• The Bobcats have won just three times in 14 trips to Boston.

Did you know?

There is a tie for most points scored by a Celtic against the Bobcats. One name – Pierce’s – is no surprise. But Wally Szcerbiak scoring 35 on the Bobcats during November 2006 probably isn’t etched in anyone’s memory.
