A year after Flying Biscuit Café employee Danielle Watson was stabbed to death, the south Charlotte restaurant donated Sunday’s profits to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
In all, about $800 went to fund cancer research and treatment, in addition to thousands the restaurant has donated over the past year. Some customers opted to donate money above their check amount, owner Will Bigham said in a statement.
“Our hearts continue to go out to the family and friends of Danielle Watson, and we remain committed to honoring her memory. In addition to covering all funeral expenses, The Flying Biscuit Cafe donated thousands to The Danielle Watson Memorial Fund and The American Cancer Society on her behalf. Our donation today continues to honor her legacy,” Bigham said in the statement.
Sunday was one year to the day that Watson, 25, was stabbed to death while closing the restaurant late on a Friday night.
A co-worker, Mark Anthony Cox, 22, was charged with robbery and two counts of murder, including one of an unborn child because Watson was pregnant when she was killed.
