UNCC is teaming up with the American Red Cross for the 4th annual '49ers for Life' blood drive Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Student Activities Center.
Those who come out to donate blood will receive prizes and those who sign up by Jan. 18 and keep their appointments, will be entered into a drawing for a tablet.
UNCC is among several NC colleges and universities which collect hundreds of units of lifesaving blood with the American Red Cross, and the competition is fierce. Last January, the 49ers collected 871 pints of blood, edging out UNC Chapel Hills 782 collected in June. The 49ers want to help save even more lives this year. Appalachian State University currently holds the state record, collecting 1,313 units in September. N.C. State isnt far behind with 1,137 collected in August.
