ROCK HILL A 14-year-old Rock Hill girl already on probation is now charged with assault after police say she attacked her mother, who had tried to spank her.
The girl then tried to spit on and kick at police officers who tried to arrest her Sunday.
The 31-year-old woman told police that she found nude pictures of her daughter on Facebook and tried to discipline her by spanking her around 6 p.m., according to a Rock Hill Police report. The girl kicked her mothers legs and punched her in the chest.
During the struggle, the girl broke a table and its legs, knocked over a hamster cage and overturned other furniture in the living room before fleeing into the bathroom, the report states. When police spoke with the girl, she said she told her probation officer she planned to run away.
She then told officers she planned to run away once they left her Southland Drive home. Two officers grabbed the girl to arrest her, but she tried to kick both of them until they forced her to the ground face down, the report states. She tried to spit in one officers face when he tried to handcuff her.
The girl is charged with third-degree assault and battery and damage to property. An official with the Department of Juvenile Justice arrived on scene and made arrangements for the girl to be held at the York County Detention Center.
