A Charlotte man remains in jail early Tuesday accused of robbing a local bank branch earlier this month.

Williard Marion Grier, 34, is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held in jail under a $100,000 bond.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Grier is a suspect in a Jan. 9 robbery at the Wells Fargo branch in the 2800 block of Freedom Drive. Witnesses told police that a suspect approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash. The suspect then crawled on the counter and took money from a cash drawer.

Detectives later obtained warrants for Grier and police said he was arrested without incident on Monday.

Anyone with information about the robbery or Grier is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
