Plenty of problems are being reported this Wednesday morning for motorists across the Charlotte region.
The biggest headaches are on the east side, with a collision and heavy congestion on inbound East Independence Boulevard, and a closure on Rama Road that is causing backups on nearby roads.
Here is the 8:05 a.m. update:
-- I-85 southbound, near the 29/49 Connector ... Collision blocking the left two lanes at 8:10 a.m.; traffic moving 10 mph from Harris Boulevard to the crash scene.
-- Rama Road ... The road is closed at the railroad crossing through Friday. This is causing slowdowns at Idlewild and Monroe roads, as some motorists are learning about the closure and looking for alternate routes.
-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.
-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.
-- Independence Boulevard inbound ... Earlier collision near the Pecan Avenue bridge is causing slowdowns; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Sharon Amity Road all the way to the Pecan Avenue area. There’s also a collision causing problems at Idlewild Road.
-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-20 mph from the lake down to I-485.
-- Randolph Road at Sardis Road ... Collision at 7:45 a.m.; moderate delays.
-- Providence Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-25 mph from the Arboretum in to Wendover Road.
-- Wilkinson Boulevard at Old Steele Creek Road ... Collision at 7:40 a.m.; minor delays.
