There are as many ways into this unwanted life as there are stars scattered across the clear night sky… Whether seemingly by chance or an inescapable circumstance, everything suddenly changed and we were forced into a world where our normal order of things will never be so again… Don’t be fooled… Despite appearances to the contrary, we are not the people we once were…

But we’ve become adept at seeming so. We blend in pretty well, when we actually venture out and socialize… We’ve worked really hard learning to live around the gaping black hole Brian left behind. Some see this as evidence that we’ve moved on. They’re wrong. There is a difference between moving on and carrying on.

It’s one of the toughest facets of the life we now lead, to keep on keeping on when the world forgets what we cannot…

I promised myself four years ago that I would be a voice speaking for those of us who have no name…

And yet I chose silence recently instead of challenging the validity of some idle commentary offered up by people whom I thought would never say certain things, at least in front of me. I must have been invisible that day.

I’m not sure if it was shock or chagrin that held my tongue...

Looking back, I wish I’d had the courage to say “Hush up! The words spilling from your mouths are branding you as fools!”

I guess I didn’t realize just how far removed I’ve become during the last few years. How some who think they know me and my family…they really don’t. And clearly, I don’t know them.

It’s probably for the best that I said nothing at that time, but I have no intention of going quietly again.

One of my birthday gifts was a ‘Peanuts’ monthly calendar. One month’s theme declares “Love is being tolerant”; another says “Love is looking out for your friends”. By speaking up next time, I figure I’ll be doing both.

Wishing you many blessings and hope…tg
