Union County deputies have arrested a Monroe woman on felony drug charges after they found $235,000 worth of marijuana plants at her home, authorities said.
Elisandra Santos Carvalho has been charged with two counts of trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling to store controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Detectives Tuesday discovered 81 marijuana plants between 1-foot and 6-feet tall and several pounds of harvested and bagged marijuana at Carvalhos home at 318 Oak Drive, Capt. Ronnie Whitaker said. Police had gone to the house to investigate a complaint about drug activity and found the marijuana after obtaining a search warrant.
Whitaker called the discovery one of largest, most elaborate indoor grow operations hes seen in Union County.
Carvalho was booked in the Union County Jail but had been released on $30,000 bond.
Whitaker said police were still investigating the case.
