HOA workshop set for Jan. 29

A workshop on homeowner association governance will be held in Charlotte on Jan. 29.

Horack Talley lawyers Cynthia Jones, Bill Hamel and Michael Hunter, Observer columnist, will speak at the conference, hosted by The North Carolina Chapter of Community Associations Institute. The program, 5-7 p.m., will be at the Employers Association, 3020 W. Arrowood Road.

Speakers will discuss governing documents, conducting effective annual meetings, proxies and ballots, budget ratification, members’ access to HOA records, communication and attorney/client privilege and developing policies for covenant violations and delinquencies.

Cost is $15 for CAI members and $25 for nonmembers. The event is open to the public, and registration is required by Jan. 25. Register online at www.cai-nc.org.
