Concord

Home & Landscape Show: The ninth Annual Greater Charlotte Home & Landscape Show is scheduled for 2-7 p.m. Jan. 25, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 26 and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center, 4751 N.C. 49. Mooresville

Troutman

Town retreat: The 2013 Troutman town planning retreat will be held Feb. 9 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, 366 Dover Road, Troutman. A day-long agenda of items for discussion will be made available before the retreat, and the public is invited to attend.


Statesville

Handicap parking: The Statesville City Council has approved the addition of four handicap parking spaces: two on West Broad Street to accommodate Sunday worshipers at United Methodist Church, and one each on Court and Cooper Streets to make the downtown area more accessible.


Huntersville

Weight management: The North Mecklenburg Senior Center, 16601 Old Statesville Road, will host the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less weight management program 1-2:30 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 24-April 11. Cornelius

Senior Softball: Registration opens Jan. 28 for the Ralph Lambert Senior Softball League of Lake Norman. The spring softball league is for adults 50 and older. Registration continues through March 1. West Shore

Learn Spanish: Children in kindergarten through grade 3 are invited to learn elementary Spanish on Saturday mornings Jan. 26-March 16 at the Sherrills Ford Branch Library. The free classes are funded by Sherrills Ford Friends, a support and advocacy group for the library. Registration: 828-466-6827.

DAR: The Catawba County-based John Hoyle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently celebrated 90 years of service to the community.
