Amor de Brazil

Amor de Brazil in Matthews is now open for lunch from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Their new $12.95 lunch menu includes an assortment of fresh salads and steak kabobs; take out is available. Amor is known for its gaucho chefs who slice and serve the restaurant’s flame roasted meat selections tableside, and its varied salad bar.

Maggiano’s

Maggiano’s at SouthPark is serving a “seasonal features” menu through Feb. 27. The menu includes: a four-cheese pepperoni fondue served with crostini, baked stuffed shells, grilled sirloin with butternut squash and grilled shrimp spiedini with orzo, snap peas and radishes. The featured dessert is a stacked, chocolate-peanut-butter bar; each bar purchased generates a $1 donation to Make-A-Wish.

Rooster’s

A Gerard Betrand wine dinner is set for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29. The multi-course menu finds hors d’oeuvres, beet and goat lady chevre agnolotti, smoked, seared salmon belly, a grilled quail breast and leg confit and a beef short rib with braised bacon and wild mushrooms. An apple tart tatin and ginger gelato is the dessert selection. Cost is $65 per person. For reservations: 704-366-8688.

Charlotte Barreled at the Lift

A speakeasy has opened in Myers Park in Parktowne Village. Barreled at the Lift serves unique drinks from mason jars, hookahs, punch bowls and more in a Prohibition feel, 1920s environment complete with couches, TVs and outdoor seating. Barreled’s interior was designed with social interaction and comfort in mind.

BT’s Burger Joint

Now open at Promenade on Providence at Providence and I-485, BT’s specialty is a signature burgers: hamburgers in both 6 oz. and 8 oz. sizes, cheeseburgers, bacon cheeseburgers, turkey and garden burgers. Diners can choose from an extensive list of toppings for their burgers: mushrooms, chili, onions, pickles, avocadoes, jalapenos and more. Sauce options include BBQ, sweet potato mustard and mayo. Cheesesteaks, hot dogs and sandwiches are also served, as well as build your own salads. Cold beer is on tap, and wine is available. Leroy Fox

Leroy Fox is celebrating its one-year anniversary at 8 p.m. Jan. 30. Hunter’s Travesty will provide live music while guests enjoy $4 sangrias and $2 Miller Lites. Giveaways will happen all night in honor of the first year.

Pure Taqueria

Once a good spot for both margaritas and fish tacos, Pure Taqueria on Matthews Station Road in Matthews has closed.

Rollo di Pasta

Also newly closed is Rollo di Pasta in Ballantyne, known for its pizza and pasta.
