Police: Stumbling drunk shoplifter steals beef jerky

FORT MILL Deputies are searching for a man who allegedly stole beef jerky from a Fort Mill convenience store after stumbling through the store while drunk, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

The store clerk at the Times Turnaround reported the man was “extremely intoxicated” and stole several beef jerky sticks. Deputies reviewed the store surveillance video which showed the man “enter the store and stumble around,” then grab beef jerky and stuff his pockets. In an attempt to hide the stolen jerky, the man tried to pull his shirt over his pockets, but the shirt was stuck in the same pocket which knocked out the jerky, the report states.

The man then moved to another display of jerky, grabbed more, and left the store without paying, the report states. Officers recognized the man from “Prior encounters” and planned to pursue enhanced shoplifting charges, the report states.
