U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger has opened what aides say is the first congressional office ever in Iredell County.
The office is in Mooresville at 116 Morlake Drive, Suite 101A . The number is 704-696-8188.
“The people of Iredell County have asked for a Congressional office for many years,” Pittenger said in a statement. “Setting up a base of operations in Iredell was one of my priorities … My local staff will improve communication between Iredell County and Washington, helping us better understand local needs and concerns.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Election Commission last week fined Pittenger’s campaign $31,000 for failing to report a contribution from the candidate last spring in a timely fashion.
Pittenger made the $309,000 contribution in April. He reported it in July. The FEC said he should have reported it in April.
“Pittenger for Congress staff will continue to discuss the matter with the FEC, including whether or not the full $31,010 fine is justified,” spokesman Brian Mullis said. “Whatever the result, no donations from campaign supporters will be used to pay the fine.”
