Congestion and broken water mains are the big problems for Charlotte-area motorists shortly before 9 a.m. this Wednesday morning.
But there also is a wreck on Interstate 85 that is causing problems.
The I-85 wreck was reported about 8:45 a.m. near Graham Street and has blocked three lanes.
Broken water mains are reported on Statesville Road and on Park Road (see details below).
Motorists are reminded that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are back in session today, after being off Monday and Tuesday. So after two days of lighter traffic, you’ll encounter more congestion again this morning around school sites.
Another reminder -- crews will begin repair work today on the railroad crossing on Sharon Amity Road, between Monroe and Randolph roads. That will close the road in both directions, and motorists will need to find an alternate route.

-- U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion on both northbound and southbound sides, north of I-85; traffic moving 20-30 mph.
-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-30 mph from the lake down to Exit 23 in Huntersville.
-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds to Woodlawn Road.
-- Providence Road inbound ... Congestion from Arboretum to Wendover Road; average speed 15-25 mph.
-- Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion from Harris Boulevard to Idlewild Road; average speed 10-20 mph.
-- Statesville Avenue near I-85 ... Broken water main, with lane closures; minor congestion.
-- Park Road at Selwyn Road ... Broken water main, with lane closured; moderate congestion.
-- Arrowood Road at Hebron Street ... Collision reported about 8:25 a.m.; minor delays.
