Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives Wednesday were searching for a suspect in an armed robbery that happened at a smoke shop on East Independence Boulevard.

The male suspect entered Queen City Smokes and Novelties at 3627 East Independence Blvd. Monday and demanded a product sold by the store, police said. He then pointed a gun at the clerk and left with the items, according to police.

The clerk was not hurt during the exchanged. Police describe the suspect as a white man who is approximately 5-foot-10 and between 25 and 35 years old. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and khaki shorts and was possibly driving a dark green SUV.

Anyone with information concerning the names of the suspect should contact the Crime Stoppers tip line at 704-334-1600.
