    Saturday

Charlotte Bobcats vs. Minnesota Timberwolves at Time Warner Cable Arena (333 E. Trade St.): Yes, this counts as a party. Between the Back Court Bar, Front Court Lounge, Roof Top Bar and concession stands in every corner, it’s an arena of nightlife. I’m even celebrating my birthday there this Saturday. 7:30 p.m. $16 and up. www.bobcats.com.

After Bed, Bath & Beyond and Home Depot, if there’s time, here are some fun things to do this weekend.

Friday

Fight Lab 30: MMA Cage Fights at Silver Hammer Studios (817 Hamilton St.): Go check out this real-life Charlotte fight club, which – as its saying goes – has been “helping people legally beat the crap out of each other since 2009.” 7 p.m. $35; $100 for front-row seats. www.fightlabpros.com.

Salsa contest at RE:Public (314 N. College St.): Win the $200 grand prize and tickets to see Latin Grammy-nominated salsa singer Victor Manuelle (Feb. 2 at RE:Public) if your hips don’t lie. DJ Havana spins. $10, but ladies get in for $5 before midnight. 980-202-1780.

My Old School Fridays at Privilege Charlotte (223 S. Brevard St.): Hosted by Fly Ty, with DJ Hukher kicking it old school. Free before 11 a.m. 704-606-8026.

Saturday

Grand Opening Party at Stache House Bar & Lounge (1520 South Blvd.): Tickle your whiskers at South End’s newest hookah lounge. 6 p.m. Get your free ticket at www.stachehouseclt.com.

All American Pub at 5 (200 East Bland St.): Because happy hour applies to Saturdays, too, right? Bryan Paschal of Paschal Promotions was just named Hospitality Professional of the Year in Charlotte, and events such as this one are why. No cover. 704-370-2000.

Signature Saturdays at Vapiano (201 S. Tryon St.): Live jazz, starring local band The Harvey Cummings Project, plus a Remy tasting event. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Free admission before midnight. 704-332-2440.
