Claire Danes has won a Screen Actors Guild award for female actor in a drama series.

The SAG award is for her portrayal of Carrie Mathison, a Central Intelligence Agency officer in the series "Homeland," which is filmed in Charlotte.

In 20 episodes over two seasons, the vast majority of 'Homeland' scenes have been shot in or near Charlotte, though its fictional setting is the D.C. area.

'Homeland' also won three Golden Globes. Danes won, as did co-star Damian Lewis, and the show was named best TV drama series at the Globes.

The cast of 'Downton Abbey' beat out both "Homeland" and "Mad Men" for the Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series.

Production will resume in Charlotte near the end of May with the Season 3 premier scheduled for Sept. 29.
