Collisions continue to be a problem Monday morning at a number of locations across the Charlotte region at 8:45 a.m.

The biggest problem at 8:45 a.m. is a collision on southbound Interstate 77 near LaSalle Street. The wreck has nearly been cleared, but it has caused long backups. Those delays are likely to continue well past 9 a.m.

But there also is a collision blocking the left lane of inbound Independence Boulevard near Pecan Avenue. That, too, is causing big delays.

Congestion also is a problem on interstate highways.

Here is the 8:45 a.m. summary:

-- I-77 southbound, near LaSalle Street ... Collision reported about 8 a.m., blocking the left lane; traffic backed up for about 1 1/2 miles.

-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic averaging 15-25 mph between Poplar Tent Road and I-485.

-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Mooresville to I-485.

-- Independence Boulevard inbound ... Collision about 8:40 a.m. blocking the left lane near Pecan Avenue; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Eastway Drive to the collision scene.
