1 hurt in west Charlotte fire

One person was injured and two people displaced when fire damaged a west Charlotte home at midday Monday.

The fire was reported about 11:45 a.m. at a single-story home in the 3700 block of Bullard Street. That is off Ashley Road, near the Westerly Hills neighborhood.

Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the home. It took a crew of 27 firefighters less than 10 minutes to put out the blaze, which apparently started in the kitchen.

Charlotte fire Capt. Mark Basnight said one person was taken to Presbyterian Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. He said two residents were forced from the home by the fire and were being helped by the American Red Cross.
