This week we talk to Tim Flanagan, Jr., CEO of HF Financial in Charlotte.

Flanagan has been reading leadership expert John Maxwell’s books since 1995. Two of his favorites are “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth,” and “Developing the Leader Within You.”

“They are written in a simple yet highly effective manner, allowing you to grasp the concepts he presents and integrate them into your life,” Flanagan said via email.

The popular “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” by Stephen Covey, “is one of the best books on how to approach life and relationships,” Flanagan said. “Dr. Covey recently passed away, yet I suspect the wisdom shared in this book will live on for generations.”

Tommy Newberry, author of “Success Is Not An Accident,” writes on his website that he originally wrote the book to help his son organize his life around the principles of success. Flanagan calls the book a great road map “to creating a plan to live your whole life with intentionality, and a plan to succeed.” Celeste Smith
