Wednesday morning traffic update

Traffic problems continue across the Charlotte region at 8:45 a.m. this Wednesday morning.

An earlier collision on the outer loop of Interstate 485 near Pineville is causing problems on that route and on nearby northbound I-77. Another problem is in the Arboretum area, with a collision at Providence and Pineville-Matthews roads.

Here is the 8:45 a.m. summary:

-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

-- I-485 outer loop, Pineville ... Earlier collision still causing problems; wreck was between I-77 and South Boulevard; major slowdowns; traffic averaging 10-20 mph from I-77 ramp to the crash scene.

-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Carowinds to Woodlawn Road. Traffic especially slow on the ramp from northbound I-77 to the outer loop of I-485.

-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Poplar Tent Road down to I-485.

-- I-85 northbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from I-485 up to Poplar Tent Road.

-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from the lake down to I-485.

-- Providence Road at Pineville-Matthews Road ... Collision with injuries reported about 8:15 a.m.; major delays in the area.
