Congestion is the biggest problem for Charlotte-area motorists at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
An earlier collision that slowed traffic on inbound East Independence Boulevard has been cleared, and the slowdowns should end soon.
Here is the 8:30 a.m. report:
-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.
-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Woodlawn Road.
-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-30 mph from Mooresville down to I-485.
-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.
-- Independence Boulevard inbound ... Earlier collision near Briar Creek Road was cleared about 8:15 a.m.. Congestion remains, however, with traffic moving 15-25 mph from Sharon Amity Road to Briar Creek Road.
-- Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Farm Pond Lane to Independence Boulevard.
-- Monroe Road at Briar Creek Road ... Traffic signals not working; moderate delays.
-- Monroe Road at Richland Drive ... Collision reported at 8:25 a.m.; minor delays.
