State transportation officials say they expect to have the ramp from the George Liles Parkway to southbound Interstate 85 open again in time for the Friday morning commute.
The ramp, at Exit 54, was closed Monday morning so traffic could be shifted to the new 2-mile stretch of lanes on southbound I-85 from George Liles Parkway to the off ramp at Poplar Tent Road (Exit 52). To prepare for the shift, crews repainted the pavement and lane markings and posted signs, informing motorists of the new traffic pattern.
The N.C. Department of Transportation says it expects to have the ramp reopened at 6 a.m. Friday.
