No serious injuries were reported Friday morning when a car slammed through the front of a convenience store in north Charlottes University City area.
Police say a man was preparing to pull away from the 7-Eleven store on North Tryon Street at Mallard Creek Church Road when the incident took place about 3:15 a.m.
The man driving the car had backed the vehicle to the front of the store, police say. Officers say the driver accidentally put the car in reverse and hit the gas.
The car crashed through the glass windows and a small brick wall at ground level. Several customers were inside the store at the time but were not hurt. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of what were described as minor injuries.
