San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick will become just the fourth quarterback to start a Super Bowl in his first season as a starter. The list:
Vince Ferragamo, L.A. Rams, Super Bowl XIV: After just five regular-season starts, Ferragamo threw for 212 yards in a 31-19 loss to Pittsburgh, which won its fourth Super Bowl title.
Kurt Warner, St. Louis Rams, Super Bowl XXXIV: Warner, who had played in the Arena League and stocked shelves at a supermarket, was the MVP after throwing for a Super Bowl-record 414 yards in a 23-16 win vs. Tennessee.
Tom Brady, New England Patriots, Super Bowl XXXVI: Brady led a game-winning drive, capped by Adam Vinatieri’s 48-yard FG, to lead the Pats past Warner and the Rams 20-17.
Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers, Super Bowl XLVII: Took over in November when Alex Smith was out with a concussion and never looked back, running the zone-read out of the pistol all the way to New Orleans.
