Matthews is conducting its Biannual Citizens Survey online and would like to know what you think about various projects and services.
The survey went live Feb. 4 and will be online through March 4.An independent research firm, led by Dr. Paul Friday, a professor at UNC Charlotte, will oversee the process of collecting and analyzing the data and reporting the results. The survey, which should take 10-15 minutes to complete, asks questions about the services and functions that Matthews provides: police, fire and EMS protection, garbage and recycling service, street maintenance, recreation, planning and engineering and regulation of business. The survey also asks residents in what order of priority those services should be addressed. Results will be presented at a town meeting in the spring, and the Matthews Town Board will use the results to help set priorities for the budget and make long-term plans.Matthews Communications Director Annette Privette Keller says town residents’ input makes a difference. For example, past surveys indicated town residents would like bathroom facilities at town parks; permanent restroom facilities have been built at Stumptown and Squirrel Lake parks since. Residents who provide an email address will be entered into a drawing for prizes including town merchandise, Matthews Playhouse tickets and gift certificates to local restaurants. For more information, or to take the survey, visit www.matthewsnc.gov or call Keller at 704-708-1228.Wednesday, Feb. 06, 2013
