Thursday morning traffic update

Congestion is building on Charlotte-area roadways at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

But there are few reports of collisions at this time.

Here is the 8 a.m. summary:

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-30 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Woodlawn Road.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from the lake down to I-485.

I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-30 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Harris Boulevard to Idlewild Road.

I-485 outer loop, north Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-20 mph from University City Boulevard to I-85.

Mallard Creek Road at West Sugar Creek Road ... Collision being cleared; minor delays.
