A Gaston County woman has been charged with rape after officials say she set up one of her friends to be sexually assaulted while caring for the victim's two children in a nearby room last June.
Jeannette Valero Vazquez, 47, was arrested Wednesday on first-degree kidnapping and first-degree rape charges. Police say Vazquez invited 33-year-old Carlos Sanchez Romero to her home on June 20 and set up the rape with the second woman.
The woman was allegedly tricked to go into a room to look at pictures where Romero was waiting. Officials say Romero then locked the bedroom door and raped the woman.
While the rape was happening, Vazquez watched over the victim's two kids, ages four and one-and-a-half.
Vazquez is at the Gaston County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Detectives are still trying to find Romero, who may be a relative of Vazquez. He is believed to be in the area, police say.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Romero, you are asked to call 911 immediately.
