Matchup to Watch
Kobe Bryant vs. Gerald Henderson: Bryant is obviously a tough cover, and now hes creating more shots for teammates; he recently had a string of five games each with eight or more assists.
Observations.
• The Bobcats could potentially get back rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist tonight. He practiced Thursday for the first time since suffering a concussion Saturday. The NBA still had to clear him under the concussion protocol, but the team hadnt ruled him out for the Lakers.
• The Lakers suffered a big injury this week when center/forward Pau Gasol was diagnosed with a partially torn Plantar Fascia.
• The Bobcats are 8-8 all-time against the Lakers. Only two other NBA teams (Boston and San Antonio) do not have all-time losing records against the Lakers.
Tap-ins
• The Lakers are on a seven-game road trip, so that the Staples Center can again host the Grammys. They played in Boston Thursday night.
• .This is the Bobcats first home game in 13 days.
Did you know?
The Lakers have had three head coaches this season. Mike Brown was fired, Bernie Bickerstaff served as an interim, then Mike DAntoni took over. Former Bobcats coach/general manager Bickerstaff went 4-1, the only one of the three with a winning record this season.
