Friday morning traffic update

One south Charlotte wreck with injuries was cleared -- and promptly replaced with another south Charlotte collision involving injuries.

The latest wreck is on South Boulevard at Poindexter Drive, near the Sedgefield area of Charlotte. Three vehicles are involved -- a car, a tractor-trailer, and a smaller truck. Motorists should avoid the area until about 9 a.m.

There also is a collision on the inner loop of Interstate 485, adding to the already-heavy congestion on that roadway.

Here is the 8:30 a.m. update:

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Woodlawn Road.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from the lake down to I-485.

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; also, a collision near Johnston Road; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-30 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Village Lake Drive to Idlewild Road.

South Tryon Street at I-485 ... Disabled vehicle; minor delays.

South Boulevard at Poindexter Drive ... Collision with injuries reported about 8:15 a.m.; a car and two trucks are involved; moderate to heavy delays in the area.

Pineville-Matthews Road at Park Cedar Drive ... Collision reported about 8:20 a.m.; moderate delays.
