A Huntersville home will likely be a total loss after an early morning fire Sunday, but no one was injured.
Shortly before 5 a.m., the Huntersville Fire Department received a call about a fire at a home on the corner of South Main and Mullen streets, said Huntersville Fire Public Information Officer Bill Suthard.
First responders found heavy fire coming from the front and side of the home. The fire had been burning a while before someone reported it, thats typical in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping, said Suthard.
Units from Huntersville Stations One and Two and from Cornelius Fire Department had the fire under control within 30 minutes, but stayed on the scene till about 8:30 a.m., said Suthard. No one was home and no injuries were reported, though the home sustained significant fire damage. Suthard said Mecklenburg County Fire Marshals Office and Huntersville police were investigating the cause.
