ROCK HILL Winthrop University’s Board of Trustees said they took no action Sunday after meeting for nearly three hours to discuss “legal and contractual” matters about the search for a new university president.
Over lunch, members of the board met behind closed doors off campus at the Olde Stone House near Winthrop Lake.
When the meeting returned to open session, Board Chair Dalton Floyd Jr. reported that no action had been taken.
Friday saw the last of the presidential candidates tour campus when Jayne Marie Comstock, former Butler University provost, left after spending three days meeting with students and faculty. Before her, the university hosted three other finalists: Jeffrey Braden of N.C. State University; Elizabeth Dale of Drexel University; and Ulysses Hammond of Connecticut College.
Anthony DiGiorgio, the longest-serving university president in the state, will retire in June after 24 years as Winthrop’s president.
