Matchup to Watch

Kevin Garnett vs. Bobcats big men: Garnett is not your typical center, with enough shooting range to drag defenders well outside the paint. That makes it rough to guard him with Bismack Biyombo.

Observations

The Celtics had a huge loss recently when point guard Rajon Rondo was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, ending his season.

• The Celtics also lost promising rookie Jared Sullinger with a back injury.

• Boston played at home Saturday night vs. the Denver Nuggets. Most of New England spent the weekend digging out from a blizzard.

Tap-ins

• After losing Ray Allen to Miami in free agency, the Celtics replaced him with Jason Terry.

• The Celtics have won four in a row over the Bobcats.

Did you know?

The Celtics recently won six in a row, then lost six straight, then won six straight. According to Elias Sports Bureau, that’s the first time in NBA history a team has sandwiched six-game winning streaks around a six-game losing streak.
