A Rock Hill man has been charged in connection with a Jan. 29 home invasion and shooting.

Donnell Shamane Durham, 25, of Rock Hill is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent crime and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, according to Rock Hill police documents.

On Jan. 29, Darryl Hemphill, 24, of Rock Hill was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital after police say two men dressed all black knocked on his door and then fired into his chest before taking off with cash.

A woman said she was in her apartment with Hemphill and her two children when two men in ski masks came in, according to a Rock Hill police report. They confronted Hemphill and then shot him.

Hemphill managed to run from the house on Eastwood Drive toward Princeton Road, where someone called EMS. Meanwhile, the gunman managed to take at least $300 from the house, even while the victim's girlfriend was still inside.

The girlfriend and children were not injured.

Durham was arrested Saturday and remains at the Moss Justice Center on a $300,000 bond.

The second suspect has not been arrested, said Lt. Brad Redfearn, who couldn’t release other details on Durham’s arrest citing the “active investigation.”
