• Watching Paul Pierce bringing energy Monday after a triple-overtime game in Boston Sunday, I kept thinking about former Charlotte Hornets general manager Bob Bass, who found it hilarious that Pierce was slipping in the 1998 draft.
Bass, not prone to grand statements, said it was ridiculously obvious Pierce was the safest pick, yet lasted to No. 11. The Hornets were choosing in the 20s that draft, so Bass had no chance of grabbing a guy who will be a Hall of Famer.
There weren’t nearly as many Celtics fans in Time Warner Cable Arena Monday as there were Los Angeles Lakers fans Friday. But still the road team was effectively the home team for the Bobcats’ second straight game.
Proof positive that Kemba Walker can, in fact, dunk: He intercepted a second-quarter pass from Pierce, dribbled off one-on-none, and popped it through the rim two-handed.
