Carolina Panthers officials to meet with Mecklenburg delegation

RALEIGH Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson and team President Danny Morrison are scheduled to return to Raleigh Wednesday morning to meet with Mecklenburg County's legislative delegation.

The Panthers are looking for state help in getting money toward upgrades at Bank of America Stadium.

The team is seeking $62.5 million from the state and about $144 million from the city from an increase in the prepared food tax. The city needs legislative approval to raise the tax.

Richardson and Morrison have met individually with Gov. Pat McCrory, House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate Republican Leader Phil Berger.

On Wednesday they'll take their case to the 17-member Mecklenburg delegation.
