Wednesday morning traffic update

A few collisions and congestion problems continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday for motorists in the Charlotte area.

Inbound Independence Boulevard, which was very slow all morning because of a 6:45 a.m. collision near the Pecan Avenue bridge, finally is getting back to normal.

But there are problems elsewhere.

Here is the 9 a.m. update:

I-85 northbound, Gaston County ... Collision near mile marker 23, not far from N.C. 7 exit; traffic moving 25-35 mph from U.S. 321 in Gastonia to the wreck site.

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion still a problem; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Stalled vehicle blocking the right lane near Poplar Tent Road. Also, congestion. Traffic moving 15-25 mph from N.C. 73 down to Concord Mills.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-30 mph from the lake down to I-485.

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion still a problem; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Woodlawn Road.

I-77 north, near Center City ... Wreck being cleared on the ramp to the John Belk Freeway; moderate delays back to Woodlawn Road.

Providence Road inbound at Beverly Crest ... Collision reported about 8:40 a.m.; minor to moderate delays.
