A two-car wreck at the intersection of the U.S. 74 exit ramp and N. McDowell Street Wednesday night left an SUV overturned and a sedan totaled but no injuries.
The collision happened around 7:30 p.m. when a Hyundai Elantra, leaving the exit ramp to cross N. McDowell Street, t-boned a silver Honda SUV that was driving north on the Charlotte street, according to 29-year-old Lauren Thomas, the driver of the Hyundai.
Thomas said she had a green light when she crossed the intersection and that the SUV ran a red light. The driver of the SUV declined to comment.
Thomas, a Los Angeles resident, was in town to visit her parents. She and a friend, passenger Holly McLester, were headed to see Les Miserables when the crash occurred.
Emergency crews were on scene taking witness statements, and tow trucks arrived shortly thereafter to remove the vehicles from the road.
No significant traffic delays occurred as a result.
