ROCK HILL A Rock Hill man was stabbed after he attacked his neighbor with a shovel on Tuesday, police say.

Deputies charged James Richard Hudson, 43, with first-degree assault and battery after his 48-year-old neighbor told deputies Hudson went into his backyard, hit him in the back with a shovel and began punching him, according to a York County Sheriff’s report.

In turn, the neighbor used a knife to stab Hudson in his leg, the report states. Hudson admitted to deputies that he fought with his neighbor.

Both Hudson and his neighbor were taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment. Hudson became ill, the report states, and wasn’t accepted at the York County Detention Center. He was taken back to the emergency room.
