Great Backyard Bird Count

The Charlotte Nature Museum’s February Creature Feature is the Great Backyard Bird Count, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Charlotte Nature Museum, 1658 Sterling Road. Meet expert birders with the local Audubon Society chapter, contribute to an international study, and shop for new birding books and more. Children’s activities will include story times, puppet shows and crafts. Creature Feature is free with admission: $6 for ages 2 and older; parking is free. Details: birdsource.org/gbbcr.

Edible gardening 101

This Mecklenburg County Extension Master Gardener lunch and learn program will be 12:15-1:15 p.m. at the Mecklenburg County Extension offices, 1418 Armory Drive.

Master gardener Don Rosenberg will give practical tips on planning, installing and maintaining a home garden. He’ll also share tips on seed planting and crop management, for getting the best yield from small gardens with the least effort. This free lunch will feature Rosenberg’s 30-minute presentation and a 30-minute question and answer period.
