Concord officials will shut down a part of Franklin Avenue NW in Concord Friday and keep it closed through May as road crews begin a second phrase of utility work near the streets intersection with Georgia Street NW.
During the closure, crews will be upgrading sewer lines for area properties, city officials said. During the first part of the project, workers upgraded area water lines.
The Concord Engineering Department split the work into to two phases as a way to minimized disruption to motorist and neighbors.
Our contractor has been helpful in accommodating school buses and other vehicles during the first two months of this project, Deputy City Engineer Rick Blat said in a news release. The project has progressed to the point where crews need more room to work and complete the upgrades as planned.
