The Totally ‘80s Retro Ski Weekend at Beech Mountain, Feb. 22-24, has the Carolina Ghostbusters making appearances with their replica of the Ectomobile from the “Ghostbusters” movie. The Ghostbusters will also judge Saturday night’s SkiNC.com ’80s Apparel Contest at the resort’s Beech Tree Lodge ($500 cash prize). One-woman show at Brookgreen Gardens

At 1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 23, Natalie Daise will present a 60-minute performance of “Becoming Harriet.” The one-woman show, offered in recognition of Black History Month, is the story told through different characters of how former slave Harriet Tubman became a leader in the abolitionist movement. Daise starred in the award-winning TV show “Gullah Gullah Island” in the 1990s. The program is free with Brookgreen admission, but reservations are necessary: Call 843-235-60016. Feast for lovers of food, beer

The Bull City Food & Beer Experience – an indoor food and beer festival – will be staged 4-8 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Durham Performing Arts Center. Admission, which starts at $84.75, includes unlimited food and beer tastings (20 Durham restaurants; 50 beers), speakers from Sierra Nevada, New Belgium and Oskar Blues breweries, and live music. Guided tour of Lowcountry waterways

The Coastal Discovery Museum, on Hilton Head Island, S.C., is sponsoring educational cruises in March that will explore the waterways around Pinckney Island Forest Preserve. The cruises, two to 2 1/2 hours in length, are offered March 2, 16 and 29. A naturalist on board will help identify any plants or animals; you’ll learn about the salt marsh, maritime forest, barrier islands, and the history of Pinckney Island.
